Localized dictionaries....?

Oct 7, 2014 at 8:45 AM
Hi,

I'm ashamed to say that some of my fellow dutchmen have such poor understanding of the english language, that i often have to spell out passwords generated by the RPG..

For acceptance sake, it would be nice to be able to add an alternative dictionary in my own language next to the one which is included in this project, and have an option to choose that one in the setup.

Groeten vanuit Holland :)

Hi Theo,

You're welcome to give a dictionary a go. It's not a trivial undertaking, however, as you need to enter words in Dutch in an XML file with all the difference declensions, tenses, and so on. And, as a native English speaker, I didn't give other languages much thought (mostly because any thinking I'd have done would be wrong). That's without thinking about grammar! You'll need to construct phrases in valid Dutch grammar too (which isn't half as time consuming).

The two relevant pages in the documentation are:
https://readablepassphrase.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Make%20Your%20Own%20Dictionary&referringTitle=Documentation
https://readablepassphrase.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Custom%20Phrase%20Description&referringTitle=Documentation

You'll be able to change your config to accept custom dictionaries and phrases (although, to be honest, those particular features havn't been tested in several years!). Once selected, your customisations should be saved by KeePass.

Not to be too negative, but it's quite a bit of work. If you're happy to put the work in, however, I'd be happy to include your Dutch dictionary and phrase templates in-the-box, once you're done.
