Generate New Password Request from KeeFox Ignored

description

I use KeeFox (Firefox plugin) with my KeePass and when I come to a web site that requires me to create a new login, I use the "Generate New Password" feature which I'm sure uses the KeePass API to generate a new password and pass it back to KeeFox. Whenever I have Readable Password Generator selected, it never populates the clipboard with the new password so it can be pasted into a password field. I don't think KeeFox is the problem because I can use this feature when I use the built-in KeePass capabilities (not using Readable Passphrase Generator).

I'm using Firefox 37.0.1 on Win7-64 and the KeeFox plugin is version 1.4.6. KeePass is version 2.29 (portable) and the Readable Passphrase Generator is version 0.14.1.0. Thanks a lot for your time, and for such a great utility.

Thanks for the report, SturdyWings. And for the detail you've included.

I don't use that Firefox plugin personally. But I'll give it a test and see if I can work out what's going on over the next week or so.

A quick update: I've installed KeeFox and have been able to replicate your problem on my computer.

After a bit of trawling through KeeFox and KeePass source code, I think (and a big emphasis on "I think") the problem is with KeeFox. I'll get in contact with the author and see what we can work out.

I've contacted the KeeFox author and opened an issue on GitHub for this. Nothing's been confirmed yet, but looks like he's planning to make a change to fix this in a future release.

I'll leave this issue open until you confirm it's fixed with a new version of KeeFox.

Thank you so much! I originally contacted him about a possible KeeFox issue but he felt pretty confident that everything was OK, so I came here to follow up. Thanks again!

SOLVED!! SOLVED!! SOLVED!! SOLVED!! SOLVED!! SOLVED!! SOLVED!! SOLVED!! SOLVED!!
I, too got passwords like 'PQ694U91k8EJO60LjsoN' rather than 'his wren shaved the gnarly ones' despite installing RPG. I used a crummy workaround.

This is a KeePass configuration issue!!!!
Solution:
  1. KeePass Menu- 'Tools' 'Generate Password'
  2. Specify all options of the Readable Passphrase Generator profile you want- (don't worry about which profile it is yet.)
  3. Click the Save as Profile button. Image
  4. Select and overwrite the '(Automatically generated passwords for new entries)' profile
  5. When you select 'Add Entry,' you get a Readable Passphrase per the options you specified!!

Is it possible to specify KeePass options like this automatically as part of the plugin install?

From http://keepass.info/help/base/pwgenerator.html
Help Configuring Settings of Automatically Generated Passwords for New Entries
When you create a new entry, KeePass will automatically generate a random password for it. The properties of these generated passwords can be configured in the password generator dialog.

To configure, specify the options of your choice and overwrite the '(Automatically generated passwords
for new entries)' profile (see section above).
